5 de mayo

is a day of great historical significance for the people of Mexico . Cinco de Mayo celebrates the day on which heroes, such as Ingnacio Zaragoza, and the indigenous Zacapoaxtla, fought together with great perseverance and bravery to defeat the French army, one of the most powerful forces in the world at the time which had invaded Mexico and wanted to impose its government on them.

Cinco de Mayo is part of our history and culture as people of Mexican descent, and it is an occasion that provides us an opportunity to keep that cultural heritage alive in a dignified way.

Come and share with us this great celebration and learn more about this special event. There will be traditional food and artisan goods for sale typical for these celebrations. Also, we will be having a parade, poetry reading, reenactment of “La Batalla de Puebla” and an army band playing traditional patriotic music of the occasion, as part of the program. Free admission. We hope to see you there!
